CyNation CTO lands in Saudi Arabia1 min read

14/Oct/2019

Following a hectic start to October with last week’s trip to Switzerland, CyNation CTO Shadi Razak (right) barely had time to pause for breath before heading slightly further east to take part in the UK technology trade mission to Saudi Arabia. The mission –which started today and runs until Wednesday, October 16 – is led by the Department for International Trade (DIT), in partnership with the Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC).

The goal of the mission is to build on the success of last November’s DIT & SBJBC’s smart cities delegation visit. It follows a number of new market opportunities in which Saudi Arabia is keen to gain access to and benefit from innovative UK expertise. Target sectors include Smart Cities, Fintech, AI and IoT.

The market for ICT in the region is huge and growing, with Saudi Arabia, the biggest single market. A number of public and private smart city initiatives have already been launched in several sectors, including construction, transport, parking, communications and environmental sectors. Giga-projects such as the NEOM smart city project are also moving forward rapidly, and an ambitious National Digital Transformation Programme is being implemented.

As well as presentations, business to government meetings and business-to-business roundtables will take place today and over the rest of the event. Look out for Shadi’s debrief on his return.
