The crossroads of cybersecurity and data protection is a challenging environment of competing interests that organisations must navigate both for compliance and business success.

Join us for an interesting evening! A panel of cybersecurity and data protection experts including Ryan Johnson, Judy Krieg, Mark Lubbock and Shadi A. Razak, will talk about what actors from every sector need to do to avoid and combat cyberattacks as well as to drive internal change to embrace new regimes and be compliant. They will also discuss what the UK´s strategy should be in order to be fully prepared to address increasingly sophisticated threats and raise awareness, and what its role should be in each of these interrelated areas.

Panelists’ bios:

Ryan Johnson is a senior manager in the Washington D.C. office of Access Partnership. Ryan consults on international issues for a range of clients on information and communications technology policy. He works with global companies and organisations to develop strategies, shape policy discussions and access new markets. He has worked on Internet governance issues for some years, primarily in developing countries in Africa, Latin America and South Asia.

Before joining Access Partnership, he worked for Neo Globe Consulting, where he managed market research, policy advocacy and new market entry activities, and focused on cybersecurity, data protection and cryptography. He has advised various Latin American countries on their digital agendas, national cybersecurity strategies and electronic-crime laws. Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Intercultural Relations from Indiana Wesleyan University, and is completing a master’s in Internet Governance and Contemporary Diplomacy at the University of Malta.

Judy Krieg is a partner in the London office of Shepherd & Wedderburn where she specialises in pragmatic solutions to compliance issues. She helps companies understand and implement GDPR, including advice on data transfers between the EU and US. Judy is a US and UK qualified lawyer and a Certified Information Protection Professional (Europe). Her experience includes running risk and compliance programmes in- house as a Chief Compliance Officer as well as regulator experience at the UK Financial Services Authority. In addition, Judy attends post-graduate study at University of Oxford in Software and Systems Security.

Mark Lubbock is a partner in Ashurst’s Digital Economy Group. Mark specialises in commercial technology and privacy law. He advises clients on a wide variety of both contentious and non-contentious matters and has extensive experience in the intellectual property, data protection, information technology, healthcare, e-commerce, outsourcing and commercial contracts practice areas.

He advises clients on such issues in relation to a wide variety of industry sectors and on commercial arrangements, technology transfer agreements, trade mark licences and on outsourcing, development and procurement agreements with a technology focus, and in corporate and corporate finance transactions. Working alongside our corporate team, he also assists on the data protection and intellectual property, IT and data protection aspects of mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs and buy-ins, joint ventures and flotations.

Shadi A. Razak is Cynation’s Chief Technology Officer. Shadi is a cyber security and business digitisation expert, with a strong foundation in business and IT strategy. His expertise in information security management, Data Privacy and Protection, Information governance and compliance, cloud security and business digitisation has made him a sought-after advisor to and coach for a number of international blue chip companies, government organisations, financial services and SME’s in the UK and the MENA region for the past 16 years.

He has been a visiting lecturer at a number of International and British universities and is currently a Board Member and President of the Information Security Group (ISG) Alumni, Technology and Finance Society and a mentor for a number of FinTech and SecurityTech start-ups in London and Dubai.

Shadi lives and works in London (UK). He holds a BSc in Computer Engineering, a MSc in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London and an MBA from the University of Sunderland.

Silvi Wompa Sinclair, Head of Private Equity Practice, globally, at Willis Towers Watson, has held several senior positions within the firm, previously as European Head of the Financial Institutions Group. Prior to that, she held several senior positions in Nordic insurance companies, If P&C and Skandia Life & Pension after setting out her professional career as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company in Germany.

Silvi holds a MSc of Business and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden and Lehigh University, USA.
